Afin de favoriser la participation à la vie culturelle, le ministère de la Culture apporte son soutien à des projets culturels et artistiques organisés pendant l’été.

Lancé en 2020, l'Eté culturel est une opération nationale visant à soutenir des propositions artistiques et culturelles (concerts, représentations, ateliers, projets participatifs, etc.), toutes disciplines confondues, ayant lieu en juillet et août. Ces projets peuvent être proposés par une association, un particulier, une collectivité (territoriale, régionale, départementale, communale), un établissement public ou bien un organisme privé.
L’opération se décline en « Vacances culturelles » en Outre-mer.
